"3L1t3Sp34k' has been around for years now. (lol) As old as I am, I saw some of that even when I was maybe 20, and also thought it was ridiculous. Some people use it so their passwords are not strictly dictionary words -- it's better than nothing, then. lol

To each their own, and I guess that sometimes when you're looking for a name, perhaps all the standard spellings of your name are already taken -- that would give you a way to still be named what you'd like.

It's not a true measure of intellect though!
