Looks like a cool site! Though .io is not a game domain, idk why everybody thinks that. Here is the website managing the .io domain: http://www.nic.io/
Nevertheless it's a good idea to use it as a games domain, as it is unique, easy to remember / pronounce and it is the abbr. for Input/Output (sorry for that)

Since it originally has been used for software projects. As you correctly said its for information "input and output".
