I'm assuming that this web site is legitimate.

Don't be crazy, and type a real password in there.

But if you're thinking of MAKING a new password, maybe give it a try there, and then when you go to make your real one, make it different in some small way.

No password is safe... but depending on how good your memory is, you can come up with good passwords.

If you can remember a seemingly random string of characters, that's the way to do it. If you can't, you want to come up with a method for deriving a seemingly random set of characters from situations, phrases, activities, songs, and many other possible things. The more creative you are there, the better protected you'll be.

And if you're really good... you'll pick some time frame, and change all your passwords once it has passed.

If I remember, I'll go there, try a few passwords out, and let you know how I think it's "scoring" system is.

Uhnnnn... nevermind, don't even bother.

I decided to make time right away, so I wouldn't forget.

It does know a list of words, and then it will say you can be hacked "Instantly". But it doesn't even have the full dictionary loaded. All dictionary passwords will be discoverable within minutes, seconds if it's via a botnet with 1000's of infected computers. Try uit out if you want, try typing "chicken" as a password. When you get to "chick" and "chicken" it will say "Instantly". But after that. it's just a simple mathematical formula. And it doesn't penalize for "elite speak" (Try "ch1ck3n" this time; it's just the mathematical formula.) which it should.

And the rest of it, is just based on how long the password is.

Their scoring system is not good enough to be reasonable, so really, you'll get nothing whatsoever out of this site.

Basically, if others thought to do what you did, its not really safe at all.

But still, thanks to Reaction for mentioning it. You never know when something liks this could be useful.

Never toy with your passwords though.

Especially if you're one of the many lunatics willing to do banking on a PC. That helps the BANK. Maybe it leaves stuff more convenient for you to find, but being safe, in my opinion, is better. Particularly if you don't have money to burn.

This is something I have here (and in other places) as pass:
`,{ccaSltcLls>K_hlv_
w6=:;D#SY6Ty)LVYM'/`
Y];:fy_(}ei8M|Lk=K"|
tM5j}mqR5%$`/?`dv<y7
=om1a]j6q~PKu6E`>K,3
,=,QN~I"|}Cjw&E'{12D

I use KeePass, and everywhere I register it generates me something similar to above.
