people disappearing mass

Ways that I can think of would be signing out of your account mid-game, and the signing into another account and clicking "play". The other two ways are just closing agma.io or switching servers, but I'm not sure what effects it has on your in-game cells. So even if that idea is approved, people will still find a way.

The solution to mass being deleted when switching accounts would be to just disable switching accounts mid-game. Switching servers makes the mass stay for about a minute before deleting and is able to be broken down by viruses, so players can usually get most of the mass before it deletes. One other method of deleting mass that I have seen is feeding a minion and then stopping bots, making all of the bot mass delete instantly. This can be solved by only deleting the bots under a certain mass and leaving any bots above that mass free for others to eat.

Also, @riceee was spot-on with his suggested solution. Respawning should only be allowed for players under a certain mass, as big players have no real reason to do it other than to be a prick.
That sounds like a lot of work, but it should really pay off later on. I hope Sora can make those changes.

People letting their mass disappear when they are about to get eaten is truly one of the most annoying things... but I don’t think respawn button should be limited, nor should it be removed entirely.

Firstly, the ghost cells should stay longer so that the attacker still has a chance to eat them.

But if you go a bit further, you could start questioning if ghost cells have to disappear in the first place (yes they should eventually for reasons such as getting cells to out of map positions and then respawning —> cells wouldn’t be eaten... but), what about giving these cells the ability to interact with stuff such as viruses (pop a respawned cell), although the respawned cell shouldn’t be able to acquire more mass. That way you could kill a respawned person who was bigger than you.

For situations like changing server or changing account the player could just appear as respawned to avoid the possibility of deleting mass that way.

Lastly, there is an issue with respawning in portals, you could go in a portal with millions of mass, shrink to a few thousand mass in the portal, and respawn: other players would only be able to get the few thousand mass. Not sure what could / should be done about that but I just wanted to address it

how about if a mass limit is added so only small players below the mass limit can respawn?

Even if the mass stays for a bit longer, there is no guarantee that all of it would get consumed in time. Players trying to eat the dead mass would still get virus-spammed by oblivious/rude players or even the respawner themselves. The only problem that I can see in restricting the feature to players below a certain mass threshold is if a player spawns in the game and exceeds the limit after a few seconds before getting split on by a much bigger player and not being able to skip the home screen. A solution to that would be for the game to skip the home screen by default if a player dies within a certain period of time after spawning.

@Sora I am tired of having to go out of my way to target trash players for literally hours every day just to prevent them from ruining the game. There are many players who come online daily with the sole purpose of repeatedly dominating and respawning just to ruin everyone's fun. The respawn feature in its current state encourages cowardice and hypocrisy. It is so absurd that it almost seems satirical.

Here are 4 changes that should be made to minimize mass deletion:
  • Restrict respawning for players below a mass threshold proportionate to the spawn mass and automatically break the ghost mass into bite-sized pieces. Also, skip the home menu for players that are above the threshold but get eaten in the first ~30 seconds.
  • When a player clicks "Stop Bots," only delete bots under the threshold (proportionate to the BOTS' spawn mass) and have the larger bots turn into ghost mass that ejects mass over time until it is small enough to delete. The dead mass should also be able to be broken down with viruses.
  • If a player disconnects while frozen in a portal, the freeze should be deactivated so that the player can be eaten.
  • Disable switching accounts mid-game.
I know I have already made countless posts on this topic, but it has been nearly two years now and still nothing has changed. This is one of Agma's biggest flaws and a daily frustration for me as well as many other players and should really be top priority. I really hope to see improvements in following updates.
