All new viruses start being undetectable by anti-virus scanners. Most of the actual work is not done by your antivirus scanner program, but it is done back at the company you bought it from, compiling reports of new infections. determining the files/methods it uses to gain a foothold on your system, then making a CRC check to quickly determine whether all the files on your system have the virus code or not.
