1). Tell Me About You?
~rest snipped for brevity~

Those might start a conversation, but I think in this day in age, you would do well to pick something a but less vague.

Now, if you wanted to get slapped instead, you could try, "Hey, do you come here often?"
Fight the Good Fight
(Listen with lyrics here!)
Make it worth the price we pay!
All your life you've been waiting for your chance,
Pray you'll fit into the Plan.
But you're the master of your own destiny,
So give and take the best that you can!

Please, stop with the excessive use of caps. It's irritating me.

(You have no idea how long that took to type. We have to realize that capitalization, spelling, punctuation and grammar, are all integral parts of a language.

And just as I commented recently on how accents can grate on people (think of the Indian accent, and their proper English, yet with completely butchered grammar. Lots of people hate talking to an Indian tech support person, for example, because that is irritating...  It's an example of a difference between how we speak/write a language, and how they choose to do it.

In the end, I think Owl is right... you suck it up while talking to them. And if they are employed with a company, complain to the company, if you want. If there's a lot more who have similar opinions, then I think you'll find that the company finds a way to fix it. (Maybe they stop outsourcing? Maybe instead they give those people special training, so they talk exactly as we expect them to.)

But there's no company involved here... It's just a bunch of people from around the world, here talking with us.

I think it's our job to appreciate the English that they DO know, so they can talk to us!

That feeling that irritates you, is probably a sign that your brain would be annoyed if YOU did that. But part of culture and politics, is not offending the way someone speaks a language that they wouldn't normally. Smile

(If I were forced to speak only German or French, and most of you had that as your native tongue, you would probably wish that I died, secretly! lol Or completely stop reading my posts. Wink I bet you would choose the 2nd option.)
