Rewards

Today I had a cool idea.

I was thinking we could have a rewards system for peope helping out in the community with a points system where doing certain things would get you a certain amount of points where you could almost kind of buy something cool like a skin in agf, or a badge, or a custom name color, etc.

Here is a prototype of the points system:

+10 Welcome a new member

+15 Dont get in trouble with staff for being rude or disrespectful for one month

+25 Be an active member that posts constructive things weekly
 
+35 Gain 10 positive reputation

+40 Help another member with something they need help with

+50 Gain 25 positive reputation

+55 Get approved by a moderator

+60 Make 50 posts


+125 Make 100 posts

Now the rewards

1250 Custom name color

1000 Skin in AGF

750 Custom Badge

500 Custom gif avatar

Get approved by mod: Mod approved badge

It's kind of a cool idea, but it reminds me too much of how I try to bribe my kids into being good. (lol)

If you don't just want to do some of the things that get you points, then I would think that you need to ask yourself why you actually want to be here?

And the problem with earning rewards, means you take out the unpredictability of all those things -- you know exactly when it will happen, and what you have to do to get there.

For people who want to be here, and are just looking for some fun, all of those things happen without having to think about it... at all.

Points for how many likes you get on your threads or responses.

I think it is not going make things predictable. It's positive reinforcement for being active and for good behavior so that people continue on that path. Since they are on the move of getting negativity out anyway.

There's no reason one couldn't implement such as system as you suggested as something to get people thinking about what's good to do, and which way leads to more fun.

We could have both... since the owner/powers-that-be will always have a veto, and the use of free will.
