If you wondewr why I prefer talking to gals, over guys, this song can explain a lot. Good heavens....that's a terrible thought, though you are right...there are tons of guys that I am sure are like that. How awful Somewhere there's a rainbow I plan to fly over

The lines where there is white space (ie: a break) both before and after -- those are the lines that the song keys on, and tries to emphasize. I didn't get these lyrics right away... it took listening to it a few times..... And now I see better why this one matters to you so much. I have to bite my tongue and watch what I say....... The endings.... ~sigh~ ~does a Marvel-TV-show-move, goes back in time and appears in a forest~ But they are both the same.... The current couldn't be themselves without the old. Even though the person "she used to know" had bad times.... In the end, those times made her better, tougher, stronger.... I would recommend that pie, either the then... or the now... to anyone who wishes to be a "connossieur of men" (people). And if they knew of a finer, I would bug them relentlessly hoping that they'd share. I'll be adding the lyrics below, in all their glory, with the white space in all the right places. Thanks for sharing?? (The intonation of just the word "lonely" by itself could start waterworks... But yeah, the pauses are also important. ~smile~ And the last hurdle I have: When you hear the song, you get the feeling that she misses the old her... and yet she realizes the great problems she had then, even though then... she was unaware... And that the assumption that sometimes it's better to be broken and unaware is untrue -- for without realization, healing never begins. It's a tough one for me to see the writer's point of view.) This song is longer, and there's no repetition of lyrics at all, really. Here they are: Sara Bareilles -- She Used To Be Mine It's not simple to say That most days I don't recognize me That these shoes and this apron That place and its patrons Have taken more than I gave them It's not easy to know I'm not anything like I used be, although it's true I was never attention's sweet center I still remember that girl She's imperfect, but she tries She is good, but she lies She is hard on herself She is broken and won't ask for help She is messy, but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone, but she used to be mine It's not what I asked for Sometimes life just slips in through a back door And carves out a person and makes you believe it's all true And now I've got you And you're not what I asked for If I'm honest, I know I would give it all back For a chance to start over and rewrite an ending or two For the girl that I knew Who'll be reckless, just enough Who'll get hurt, but who learns how to toughen up When she's bruised and gets used by a man who can't love And then she'll get stuck And be scared of the life that's inside her Growing stronger each day 'til it finally reminds her To fight just a little, to bring back the fire in her eyes That's been gone, but used to be mine Used to be mine She is messy, but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone, but she used to be mine It really IS a sad song, and meant to be sad. But shouldn't she be happy?? At least at the end? Perhaps it's just that it's not quite time for her to be happy yet. My fave lines: Growing stronger each day 'til it finally reminds her To fight just a little, to bring back the fire in her eyes To which I say: Fight the good fight, Make it worth the price we pay ~grin~ Fight the Good Fight
(Listen with lyrics here!) Make it worth the price we pay! All your life you've been waiting for your chance, Pray you'll fit into the Plan. But you're the master of your own destiny, So give and take the best that you can!

IF I would have replied to the song post, this would have been so long, so I will reply to your comment to Used to Be Mine song here @Squirrel . I think this song is saying... she lost herself. She was damaged by people who took advantage of her, and all of those people turned her into someone different than her true self. She wishes she could go back and change the outcomes for her younger self, but she can't. Then she meets a man who damages her further and uses her (when you're damaged it is not the time to find your spouse) basically controls her to a point of taking her power to free herself, and now she's trying to find her self worth and fight to be herself and free herself. At least, that's what this song says to me.

Okay, that even explains it better for me. ~smile~ Yes... alas, some of life's circumstances just happen TO us, not because we wanted it, or prompted it... and sometimes those things have profound negative effects on our lives, that we just are forced to deal with. ~sighs again~ And alas, I have a feeling that maybe half (maybe even more??) of the people reading this can identify with that -- something bad that happened to them that they had no control over, which changed them permanently. I should try to explain the way I edit posts... It's easy enough, once you get the hang of it. ~grin~ But you picked a good choice! And for anyone else, faced with one of my longer posts, feel free to do the same (Add a new post to the thread itself, and @ 'mention' me, instead of replying. LOL. Or maybe I'll try publishing my "course". (Hopefully it won't turn out to be a book. :| ) Fight the Good Fight

I'm not sure what this one is about.... but I like the tune anyhow.
Maybe the end of a relationship, where you verbally whup their @ss, and get the pain out?? That's my best guess... but I don't really ascribe to that method... unless you think it will wake the intended up, and make them understand something. (But in my experience, such things often fail, and leave you feeling sorry that you worked yourself up, spewed thinking that it would help... when it was doomed to fall upon deaf ears.) Video: Gareth Emery ft. LJ Ayrten - Beautiful Rage We’re falling Fading Gonna fade out Surrender searching Making it count Holding hoping Never enough One last moment As the stars die out We’re burning and it’s beautiful Cause it all comes down See the sky fall down I’m dancing in the flames tonight The fire heals the pain As the stars die out We’re burning in a beautiful rage We’re falling Fading We’re falling Fading As the stars die out We’re burning and it’s beautiful Cause it all comes down See the sky fall down We’re dancing in the flames tonight The fire heals the pain As the stars die out We’re burning in a beautiful rage In a beautiful rage As the stars die out We’re burning and it’s beautiful Cause it all comes down See the sky fall down We’re dancing in the flames tonight The fire heals the pain As the stars die out We’re burning in a beautiful rage In a beautiful rage Fight the Good Fight
