The weirdest news
#1
Ever read a story that was... so preposterous... so nutty.... soooooo whacked, that all you could do was laugh, with your mouth half-open?! :O

That's what I'm going for here...

And I'd like to present you with a perfect example.

About half way through reading this, I had to stop, and make sure neither my computer nor cell thought it was April 1st.

SERIOUSLY.

Caveat: Well, it's not perfect. Someone died in this story, and an innocent person (I'd call them a 'bystander', except they were just in their own home, had no idea anything was going on I guess) was hurt.

Headline: Neighbours targeted for being Illuminati, accused tells trial
Woman on trial in incident that left son fatally shot by cops

Story:
BRAMPTON - She must see herself as the Queen Mother.

Boketsu Boekwa was convinced that her dead son, shot by Peel police, was destined by God to be the “king of kings” and depose Queen Elizabeth. And she was equally convinced that her neighbours were witch members of the Illuminati bent on world domination.

But Boekwa testified that she never really planned to kill neighbour Diana Cittadino despite her threats, captured by the woman’s daughter on cellphone video, that she wanted to drown Cittadino’s family in blood. That was just a play, a “comedy” she and her son Marc Ekamba-Boekwa, 22, were enacting to lure police to their Mississauga townhouse. For what reason was never made clear.

But it worked, with deadly results.

In her green prison-issue sweatsuit, the animated Congolese native was testifying in her own defence Friday through a French translator about what led up to the deadly shooting on March 20, 2015 after police responded to Cittadino’s complaint. Boekwa, 51, has pleaded not guilty to five charges including threatening death, conspiracy to commit murder, and assault on the police.

She has been found fit to stand trial. But nothing she was saying was making much sense.

The revelations about her son’s importance came to her in successive visions and dreams, she explained. At first, she thought the throne she was seeing meant he was going to be a big basketball star like Michael Jordan. Later, she concluded this was more of a Biblical prophecy after her son was experiencing it as well. “He’d be bringing his people back to Israel because he was the direct descendant of Moses,” she told Justice Michal Fairburn in the judge-alone trial.

Boekwa quit her job, her son dropped out of college and they devoted themselves to prayer and research about their enemies. The Queen was head of the Illuminati, she said, a sect controlling the world, especially Africa. “They glorify Satan,” she declared, her voice rising.

After receiving their “calling,” they began preaching on the Internet and trying to email the Queen to warn her to repent. “She was sitting on my son’s throne and it was time to give it back to him.”

The Illuminati, though, were determined to defeat them, she said, blocking their emails, bugging their home and sending indecipherable messages through late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon. She and her son began to suspect their townhouse neighbours were members conspiring against them.

Boekwa admitted launching an “aggressive” public tirade against Cittadino, screaming that “she’s a witch,” and that “we’ll kill you and your blood will run,” even throwing a knife toward her, but insisted it was all an act designed to provoke a police response. “I had no intention of hurting her and if you watch closely, I throw the knife not at her but away from her.”

Hours later, three police officers came to Cittadino’s home and watched the bizarre footage of her obviously disturbed neighbours. They went to knock on their door.

Boekwa was about to put water on to boil when she heard police arrive and then “a lot of noise outside.” She rushed out to find them struggling on the ground with Ekamba-Boekwa. “I ran up to them saying, ‘Let my son go, let my son go.’”

Boekwa allegedly hit one of the officers over the head with her pot, a charge she denied. “I didn’t have the intention of hitting police.”

Her son managed to escape their grasp and then all three cops were tackling Boekwa to the ground. A short time later, she heard a rapid succession of gunshots. “I said to myself, it shouldn’t be my son. And my soul went out at that moment.”

The officers testified Ekamba-Boekwa came racing at them with a knife and were all cleared by the SIU. Of the 19 shots fired in the complex. 11 hit and killed the knife-wielding man and one hit Suzan Zreik, a college student in a neighbouring townhouse who’s now suing police for $21 million.

“Your son died that night?” asked Boekwa’s lawyer, Chris Assie.

“He didn’t die,” she replied. “He just passed to the other side. He’s going to come back.”

Most incredulous line to me: "She has been found fit to stand trial."

Ok . I had to read the story twice. Obviously the couple had some mental issues. If that isn't bad enough.. I question the 19  bullets the police fired. 19 ???  bullets at a man charging them with a knife.  I can only think  that it must have been  a lengthy charge or the police were bad shots or both.  But the girl who got hit accidentally figures 21 million should cover it. I wonder how she worked out the numbers??

Agreed... they must both have had something going on... which is why I was so surprised the mother was still ruled "Fit to stand trial".

Lawyers mostly use awards that have been given out in previous cases, when bringing lawsuits against the police, and you're right, 19 is a lot. It didn't say how many officers there were, so if it was 6, and they each fire 3 rounds (as they are likely to do), then it's not so bad.

But if it was just 1 or 2, definitely excessive. (Just like the Toronto Yatim shooting. At least that officer is going to go away for 6-8 yrs, whatever it was... and will never be a police officer again.)

But still. What a crazy story!

Okay, this one really made my mouth fall open....

But there is NO PART of it that's funny. Sad

http://www.torontosun.com/2017/04/12/eas...gal-action

I clicked on a headline of "Easter Bunny Nightmare".

I was born in Canada, but I'd do the same that these parents did.

My kids don't think there's some fat dude in a white & red outfit called 'Santa Claus', nor do they think there's an Easter Bunny, or a Tooth Fairy.

I'm hoping at least that this is some isolated incident, dreamed up by one crackpot "Children's Aid" worker.

If you paid attention to the german news last week, you might have noticed something really interesting.

A bottle full of coffee has been thrown away and hit a cow, and I've been asking myself for some time now :
Who the f*ck drinks coffee from a bottle?

I've never seen that... but here, they sell a milkshake collatoration between some dairy producer and the guys who make the 'Cofee Crisp' chocolate bar, so that comes in a plastic bottle...

But still... glass conducts heat, and will shatter if you drop it, so it would kind of be the dumbest way ever to deliver a coffee. (lol)
