I just figure... why buy a gaming specific platform that is going to release pricey games, when I could just play them on my PC?!

You are the first person I have meet that hasn't heard of the elder scrolls series.   
I am honestly so shocked.
Great series tho. Basically it's a fantasy/roleplaying/adventure type game.
I've grown up with the series so that's probably why I like it so much.
It's not just on PS4, you can play it on PC and Xbox also.
If you are somewhat interested try giving Skyrim a go. It's one of my favorite games, and if you like it then you will like the rest of the series.
