Why movies from the 80's & 90's specifically?

Are they the only ones now considered to be "old"?

The movies that your folks used to watch?

When someone asks me about my fave movies, I think all that come to mind came from that period...

Aliens -- probably one of the only horror genre movies that I like...
Princess Bride -- what I called the perfect "date night" movie for two young people...
Highlander -- for it's sword fighting, and the intricate story of "true love" vs fake love

There's more... but those three in particular rush to mind.
